The MV for C-ute's new song "Tokai no Hitorigurashi" (living alone in the city) has been revealed!
The song is very energetic and has that classic "Hello Project disco" sound - it definitley seems like a song that will be fun to perform live. The subject matter of this song strikes me as kind of dull - the lyrics list a girl's anxieties about the future and moving away to the big city.
Much like the rest of HP, C-ute have had their fair share of weird songs and this single is a good example > (Only got a C grade at school, looking for a job in the city, there aren't many gyms in the countryside) but the members are adorable enough to pull off even these lyrics.
I really like the music video for this release - firstly, the geometric patterns effects really make this video stand out from other HP videos that have been release lately. The effects are cute and make the dance shots look a bit more edgy.
The outfit choices are also nice - rather than having the same old one-piece costume, C-ute are donning some very well co-ordinated outfits. The cool colours and geometric patterns give this "cutesy" song a slightly more edgy atmosphere.
The beginning of the MV plays out a cast-list - it's an adorable touch that makes you feel like you're about to watch a drama on TV.
Overall, the song really makes me think "This is classic C-ute" - the same old Hello Project disco-funk sound effects and upbeat C-ute melodies. However, I think the MV is going to make this single stand-out a lot more - it's much more fashionable and high-quality than other Hello Project MVs of late. The lyrics are a bit awkward, but overall it conveys that hard-working, optimistic attitude that Hello Project groups are famous for.
The release is part of Cute's 23rd single - a double A-side - "Tokai no Hitorigurashi/Ai tte Motto Zanshin", which is set for release on the 6/11/13.
