The music video for S-mileage's new song "Mystery Night" has been unveiled!
It seems like it's been a really long wait for a new single since "Eeka!?/ Iiyatsu" and so I've been curious to see what direction S-mileage are heading in. Their 16th single will be a double A-side - "Mystery Night/ Eighteen Emotion" and is scheduled for release on April 30th.
The first thing I noticed when I heard "Mystery Night" was that this is S-mileage's first "sexy" tune! The lyrics are really provocative and I was kind of taken aback by this change in image for the group.
The music video also confirmed this new style - the costumes are really mature, I might expect an outfit like this for a slightly older, more sultry group like Berryz or C-ute... but not S-mileage! I'm pleased that at least these "sexy" outfits are a little on the elegant side - I think it suits the group better.
The sexy-image aside, I think that "Mystery Night" is evidence that S-mileage have been steadily improving as a group since their last release. The choreography and performance really showcases their talent and capability to take on a new image. I think that many S-mileage fans have been waiting for them to get a song like this!
