The music video for former Melon Kinenbi member, Shibata Ayumi's cover-song - "DEAR FRIENDS" has been unveiled!
"DEAR FRIENDS" is a cover of the 1989 hit song, originally performed by Japanese rock-band Personz. It has been released as part of Shibata's first solo album - "Kick Start", which comprises of 10 different cover songs. For the former Melon Kinenbi ace, this is her first commercial release since her 2011 digital single "GENKI". You can check out the music video for "DEAR FRIENDS" here via JPopsuki TV. The MV for Juice=Juice's new song "Are Kore Shitai!" ("I want to do lots of things!") has been revealed! "Are Kore Shitai" is one half of the group's upcoming double A-side single - "Hadaka no Hadaka no Hadaka no KISS / Are Kore Shitai!". Last week we posted about the Latin-themed song "Hadaka no Hadaka no Hadaka no KISS" - "Are Kore Shitai" has a very different sound and style. The electric guitar instrumental is unexpected but it ends a bit more energy to this otherwise minimal "idol" song. The MV is very simplistic - the members wear casual-style fashion against a minimalist white "bedroom" setting. The song is cute and typically "idolish" - it features an electric guitar instrumental partway through but other than that, it doesn't stand out particularly. The lyrics talk about young women's ambitions - overall it is a light-hearted and youthful song. Juice=Juice's new single is set for release on March 19th; you can check out the full MV below: Today I want to share the latest release from singer-songwriter Nagi Yanagi - "Mitsuba no Musubime" ("A knot of three leaf clovers"). The 26 year used to post cover-songs on video-sharing sites until she got her start as a vocalist in the J-pop group "Supercell". In 2012, Yanagi released a collaboration album and officially made her solo debut with the single "Vidro Moyou". Yanagi has contributed many songs to anime series - including, Nagi-Asu, Ano Natsu de Matteru, Jormungand and Amnesia. Released in February, her seventh single is being used as an ending theme in the anime Nagi-Asu (see our post on Ray's "ebb and flow" which is currently the opening theme). The music video is visually captivating and pretty - the concept of an "all-white" theme which becomes colourfully painted really suits the poignant lyrics and optimistic feelings in the song. Overall, "Mitsuba no Musubime" is a touching and calming kind of song, that's definitely worth a listen. You can check out a short version of the music video below: Since we're heading towards Spring - here's another seasonal "Sakura" themed release - Miliyah's latest song is a collaboration with singer Shota Shimizu and will be released as a "Miliyah x Shota" album titled - "THE BEST".
The pair have collaborated previously with Miliyah's 2007 single "I'm your Angel" and also the hit romance songs, "Love Forever" and "Believe". 'Sakura Melody" is an upbeat yet relaxing tune with complimenting and passionate vocals - you can see why these two keep collaborating. The music video is very cute and fashionable - it shows the pair travelling, on a desert road trip and hanging out at the beach. There's something a bit "90's" about the MV (and it's not just Miliyah's grunge-inspired hairstyles and hipster fashion), but it works very well with the laid-back feel of this song. Overall, it's kind of refreshing to see a "Sakura" song that doesn't feature any petals (good luck growing any blossom trees in that desert)! This is the kind of bright and optimistic song that makes us long for summer time as well as being a cute ballad that romantics just can't resist. You can check out the MV for "Sakura Melody" via JPopsuki TV here. AKB48's latest single, "Mae Shika Mukanee" went on sale last week and has sold over a million copies already making it the group's 16th consecutive million-selling single! "Mae Shika Mukanee" ("Got to face forward") is AKB48's 35th single and Oshima Yuko's last before her graduation at the end of this month. Oshima Yuko has performed with AKB48 since the group's first major single release "Aitakatta" in 2006 and has consistently been one of the most popular members, ranking in both 1st and 2nd place in the group's general elections. Most famously, after ranking in 1st place in 2010, she became the centre of AKB48's iconic (and risqué) single "Heavy Rotation". Oshima takes centre position in her final single with AKB48 - a straight-forward, rock-guitar song with AKB's usual charming chorus. The MV sees the members wearing unusual "recycled-chic" costumes that look like they are made of colourful plastic and snack packaging. You can check out a short version of the MV for "Mae Shika Mukanee" below: Although it was only in January that we celebrated the anniversary of Berryz' formation - Today is another reason for Berryz nostalgia > it's the 10th anniversary of Berryz Koubou's first major single release! In celebration, a special website has been created - (check it out via this link!) http://www.helloproject.com/berryzkobo/10thsp/ Also a new Berryz Koubou compilation album was released last week - "Berryz Koubou Special Best Vol.2."! In celebration of Berryz Koubou's first single anniversary, I've picked 3 of my favourite Berryz songs - Scroll down to check them out below!
Here's the latest single from Dempagumi.inc - "Sakura Appareshon"! "Sakura Appareshon" is the Akiba-pop idol group's 9th major single - and in keeping with coming "sakura season" this is an upbeat sakura themed song with plenty of cherry blossom petals everywhere! The members sport some adorable costumes in the new MV, including some traditional inspired kimono dresses. I love that there is so much energy and cute stuff packed into this one video - it's certainly a fun entry into the music chart with so many graduation songs about. "Sakura Appareshon" is set for release on March 12th in Japan - until then you can check out the MV below: Today I want to share with you the latest single from Japanese singer Shishido Kavka! Her new single is a double A-side release called "Wagamama/ Miss. Miss Me". I found it really interesting that the music videos for both songs have been put together and work as one continuous story featuring two different songs! "Miss. Miss Me" is a playful and spunky rock song where Kavka's vocals take on an energetic and aggressive tone. In the MV section for this song, we see Shishido Kavka as an "unusual" office lady rocking out on her drum-kit. "Wagamama" is a much more slow-paced, soft-rock ballad that highlights the gritty, passionate side of Kavka's vocals. The MV section sees Kavka back into her usual fashion style and go on a night-time city stroll. You can check out the special combined MV for "Wagamama/ Miss. Miss Me" below: |
